This Japanese needs no convincing to get people to try it. It’s a busy little place next to Calle Ocho (great cocktail bar) in the Albert Cuypstraat.
A perfect fusion between Dutch & Japanese. Little dishes with a traditional Japanese flavour in a very dutch place.
Food is authentic oriental cooked to the perfection and the best dumplings in Amsterdam by far. It will surprise you with the spices, sweet & sour sauces.
It’s a very popular place and a gamble to try to find a table during the weekend…a tip is to try to go around Wed or Thursday quite early (around 18.00) or very late (around 22.00). The kitchen is open until late.
The cocktails reveal the Japanese/Dutch fusion as there are some nice twists between Dutch gins & Sakes & Speculaas with secret Japanese spices. An all around culinary experience from the starting with a cocktail to finishing with a sake infused desert. Japan meets & embraces Holland.
They accept no reservation but worth arming yourself of some lucky charms and lots of patience to get a table and enjoy the delicious dishes of this tiny Japanese garden in the middle of the busy market street. If you leave your to name one of the kind waitresses; you could enjoy some more “latin” cocktails next door @ Calle Ocho until your table is available and therefore experience 2 opposite exquisite places in one night.
@Calle Ocho – I recommend the cocktail Escobar (if you feel a bit open minded & want to laugh a little); that will be a fun experience on its own.
